'The Slow Lane' investigates the boundaries of watercolour, playing with light and capturing the transparency of water. This painting depicts a fleeting moment in a sun drenched ocean swimming pool. Using small brushes to meticulously reproduce the shapes made by the reflections in the water, the different areas of transparency and the details and traces of the tiny droplets of water on the swimmers. There is something so interesting about painting a fleeting moment that took hours to paint.
